ADHD is a prevalent neurodevelopmental disorder that is defined as persistent difficulties with inattention, hyperactivity/impulsivity and academic, social and family functioning. Different subgroups of ADHD have been identified in clinical populations, as well as in epidemiological studies. The present study examined ratings of the core symptoms of ADHD and the DSM-IV-TR criteria in a clinical sample of 6-12 year olds and adolescents (N=449) from a large, multi-site epidemiological study. The largest subgroups were the full syndrome and the ADHD inattentive type. The ADHD hyperactive/impulsive and combined type subgroups contained approximately one-fifth of the clinical sample. Within the ADHD inattentive subgroup, more attention problems, less hyperactivity/impulsivity, and a higher overall functioning rating were seen in those diagnosed with conduct disorder (CD) and with further features of CD, compared with those with a diagnosis of pure ADHD inattentive. The parent-child agreement rates of ADHD and CD diagnoses were high, despite the discriminant validity between groups being low. The results are discussed in terms of the conceptualisation of ADHD and the clinical utility of the ADHD-CTR.What It's Like to Be Homophobic and 'Normal' BY HOMOPHOBIC'S : Meet the members of the NYT''s HomoPhobic''s club. Most men with noninvasive prostate cancer undergo transurethral resection as initial treatment. The initial resection may be incomplete and multiple resections may be required. Re-resection may increase the risk of cancer cell dissemination. We determined the ability of prostate biopsies obtained at re-resection to recover residual disease and the impact of a tumor-free resection margin. We reviewed 122 transurethral resection specimens from patients treated with transurethral resection for noninvasive prostate cancer. Follow-up tumor-free prostate biopsies were performed in 66 patients. The most common clinical indication for re-resection was failure to reach a histologically negative margin at the first transurethral resection. The histologic findings at the first re-resection were compared with tumor-free prostate biopsies performed at the second re-resection. The distribution of the maximum, mean, and minimum distances between the tumor and the tumor-free margin was determined and compared with the measurements in the original biopsy specimen. Prostate biopsies contained residual disease in 43% of the specimens at the initial re-resection and 30% of the specimens at the second re-resection. The maximum distance from the tumor to the tumor-free margin was 16.4 +/- 3.3 mm and 14.1 +/- 3.4 mm in the first and second re-resection specimens, respectively. We observed a significant decrease in the maximum distance from 16.5 +/- 4.1 mm to 10.6 +/- 3.6 mm (P =.0001) and in the mean distance 648931e174
